Reading With Your Child At Home

Reading With Your Child At Home

Home reading is an important part of the school/home partnership. It is a time for parents to share a love of reading with their child. Using 'pause, prompt and praise', this should be an enjoyable time together. Following the reading, a comprehension conversation, focused on reading within, beyond and about the text, allows for children to talk with their parents about what they have read.

Quotes from our parents:

"As a parent spending a lot of time reading with the children, I’d like that time to be as beneficial as possible. Picking up tips from the school can only help in that. "
Helen Rodopoulos

"Very helpful to see a video. This is a great addition to the seminar."
- Emma Peters

"Practical and able to implement."
- Darrell Cheng
