What is on the horizon?

What is on the horizon?

2018 promises to be another fabulous year. With fresh vision I am always filled with anticipation for all that we will do and achieve.

Starting the day after Speech Day, we will commence a significant undertaking by refurbishing the majority of staff and student toilets and bathroom amenities. The staffroom will also receive a wonderful make-over, something that is way overdue. A total of $469 000 has been budgeted for this expense.

I thank so many parents for your generous donations to the School Building Fund. Your support certainly has made a significant difference.

We will commence the 2018 school year with a fantastic new website. Wait till you see! We have taken your feedback on board and I believe that you will be delighted with the simplicity and ease of access to so many of the features.

In 2018 we will continue to target our Staff and Student Wellbeing programs in line with the priorities outlined in our Strategic Plan; ‘Our Story, Our Vision’. This document is located on our website.

2018 will also feature some of these new innovations and changes;

  • Our School Concert will be held at NIDA and have 2 public performances. Due to popular demand, we will have a matinee as well as the evening show.
  • Year 3 will commence a Instrumental Program
  • Kindergarten and Year 1 will learn Japanese
  • We have some amazing speakers lined up to present staff workshops and parent seminars. Please keep the night of the 1st March free for special guest Judith Locke, author of ‘The Bonsai Child’. This will be one parent evening that you will not want to miss.
  • Our Fathering Project initiatives will continue with a Dad’s and Kid’s Bingo Event on the horizon in the early year. Mrs Ford and the P&F are also putting ideas together for a special mum’s activity as well.

Thankfully, the new year has not yet quite arrived and there is much do do. I look forward to seeing you at some of our end of year events and I encourage you to not miss Speech Day on 13th December, which will provide a wonderful wrap up to our 135th celebrations.

Be blessed.
Mr Doug Thomas Principal
